New York Times Connections Hints and Answers for Thursday, May 1st
Hey fellow word game enthusiasts! This week's NYT Connections puzzle is ready for your solving skills. A heads-up: I'll be focusing on weekday puzzles from now on, but my colleagues will continue the weekend fun. Join our lively Discord community for discussions on Connections, other NYT games, and more! It's the best place to share feedback too.
Let's dive into today's puzzle!
How to Play Connections
Connections challenges you to group 16 words into four sets of four, based on their relationships. Use the shuffle feature to find connections! Incorrect guesses cost you a life – four mistakes and it's game over. Share your results! NYT Games subscribers can access the archive. For older puzzles, a Google search with the date usually works.
Today's Words:
DOG, STATUE, GOOSE, PROP, TURTLE, BOTTLE, WING, BUST, SUPPORT, RELIEF, BREAK, LINK, POST, RIB, TORSO, BRACE
Hints:
- Yellow Group: Think about different types of Wood Carvings.
- Green Group: These words relate to supporting something.
- Blue Group: Imagine a backyard barbecue.
- Purple Group: Consider a phrase like " _ neck".
Groups (Slightly More Revealing Hints):
Still need a nudge?
- Yellow Group: Types of sculptures.
- Green Group: What holds up a structure?
- Blue Group: BBQ food items.
- Purple Group: A phrase involving a neck.
Answers (Major Spoilers!):
Ready for the solutions?
- Yellow Group: BUST, RELIEF, STATUE, TORSO
- Green Group: BRACE, POST, PROP, SUPPORT
- Blue Group: DOG, LINK, RIB, WING
- Purple Group: BOTTLE, BREAK, GOOSE, TURTLE
I managed another win today! My approach involved identifying the Green group first, then deducing the Blue group by considering food items suitable for a barbecue. The Yellow group followed easily. The Purple group required a bit more thought, but the " _ neck" clue helped. I learned something new – "relief" as a type of carving!
That's all for today's Connections! Check back next week. In the meantime, explore my newsletter, Pastimes, for more word game fun and other content.
Today's music recommendation: Johnny Cash's cover of Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage"! A fantastic blend of country, blues, and rock.
