Forbes NYT Connections Hints and Answers for Sunday, April 20th
Greetings, fellow word game enthusiasts! Let's tackle today's New York Times Connections puzzle. I hope your weekend was fantastic, and you're ready for a challenging word game.
To kick things off, let's enjoy some early 80s music with New Order's "Age of Consent." A truly iconic track!

Before we dive into the hints, a friendly reminder: I've created a Discord group for NYT Connections discussions. It's a great place to connect with other players and share feedback.
Now, let's get to the puzzle!
How to Play Connections
Connections presents you with 16 words. Your goal is to sort them into four groups of four, based on their relationships. There's only one correct solution. Incorrect guesses cost you a life; four incorrect guesses mean game over.
Today's Words:
CELL, IRON, TWIST, SHEET, SPRING, WRENCH, PROTEIN, CORKSCREW, DNA, CURVEBALL, COLUMN, SODIUM, BOMBSHELL, ROW, FAT, FUSILLI
Hints:
- Yellow Group: Found on a nutrition label.
- Green Group: Metaphors for unexpected events.
- Blue Group: Items inserted into a spreadsheet.
- Purple Group: Things with a helical structure.
Groups (Slightly More Revealing Hints):
Still need help? Here's a bit more direction without giving away the specific words:
- Yellow Group: Nutritional information.
- Green Group: Figurative language for surprises.
- Blue Group: Spreadsheet components.
- Purple Group: Spiral-shaped objects.
Answers (Major Spoilers!)
Ready for the solutions? Here they are:
- Yellow Group: FAT, IRON, PROTEIN, SODIUM
- Green Group: BOMBSHELL, CURVEBALL, TWIST, WRENCH
- Blue Group: CELL, COLUMN, ROW, SHEET
- Purple Group: CORKSCREW, DNA, FUSILLI, SPRING
My personal experience: I found the green group (metaphors) relatively easy, followed by the purple (helical) group. The yellow (nutritional) group fell into place quickly after that.
For those who enjoy music, I'll leave you with a fun song recommendation: Alien Ant Farm's "Movies."
